FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida: Former reality TV star Joseph Duggar is being extradited from Arkansas to Florida to face a child molestation charge.
Duggar, 31, was arrested on March 19 in Tontitown, where he lives with his family. Authorities in Bay County have 30 days to move him from a jail in Washington County, Arkansas.
He is accused of inappropriate sexual behavior involving a child under 12, according to officials in Panama City.
Police in Arkansas also filed charges against him and his wife, Kendra Duggar, 27. They are accused of putting a child in danger and illegally holding them. Kendra was, however, released on a bond on March 20.
These charges come nearly five years after Joseph's older brother, Josh Duggar, was convicted of downloading child sexual abuse images. The Duggar family was featured on the TV show 19 Kids and Counting, which was later canceled after Josh's arrest.
According to police, a 14-year-old girl said Joseph abused her multiple times during a family trip to Panama City Beach when she was nine years old.
The girl's father confronted Joseph this week, and Joseph allegedly admitted to the abuse. Police then had the father call him while a detective listened, and he again admitted to it.
As of March 20, there were no online court records available in Florida or Arkansas for Joseph or Kendra related to these cases. The Duggar family did not respond to media requests.
Police in Tontitown said the investigation is still ongoing and directed further questions to the sheriff's office in Florida.
The show "19 Kids and Counting" followed the lives of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar and their 19 children.
The show was canceled in 2015 after allegations that Josh Duggar had abused several girls, including his sisters and a babysitter. His parents said he had admitted to the actions and apologized.
In 2022, Josh Duggar was sentenced to about 12 and a half years in prison for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse images.
